Join us for a wellness workshop and take control of your health! North Star’s health and wellness programs are free and provided virtually in partnership with the Vermont Department of Health. Most classes and groups begin quarterly. See below for available classes and descriptions.

High Blood Pressure Management Series

1 in every 4 Vermont adults has been told they have high blood pressure. If left untreated, it can lead heart attack, stroke, kidney damage or brain health complications.

In this program, your trained lifestyle coach will support you to:

  • Learn the basics of controlling your high blood pressure
  • Make healthier eating choices
  • Get more physical activity in your daily life
  • Reduce stress and stay motivated
  • Better manage blood pressure medications
  • Solve problems and create plans for action

Chronic Pain Management Series

Do you struggle to get out of bed in the morning? Is your pain stopping you from doing what you love? Do you wish you could be in a better mood? Get guidance and support to:

  • Build strength
  • Increase energy and mobility
  • Manage ongoing or long-term pain
  • Sleep better
  • Fight depression

Diabetes Management Series

These small-group workshops are led by specially trained leaders. You will practice:

  • Monitoring blood sugar levels
  • Finding ways to manage stress
  • Healthier eating choices
  • Positive-thinking
  • Distraction techniques
  • Being an active partner in working with your health care team
  • Getting more physical activity
  • Problem-solving
  • Creating action plans

Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Program Series

1 in 3 American adults have pre-diabetes. That’s 86 Million people! 90% don’t know they have pre-diabetes. This class provides:

  • Weekly (private) weigh-ins
  • Setting goals by tracking exercise and meals
  • Strategies for healthy eating on a budget
  • Tools to help with stress reduction
  • Ideas for behavior modification
  • Time with a trained lifestyle coach

Quit Smoking Workshops

Vermont Foodbank’s VeggieVanGo

Every second Friday of the month, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., the Vermont Foodbank’s VeggieVanGo comes to Springfield, VT, currently at the Riverside Middle School. Veggie VanGo provides fresh produce, perishable products and shelf-stable food for all Vermonters. Open to all.
